Seniors' Social Isolation Summit

SENIORS' SOCIAL ISOLATION SUMMIT

On Wednesday, January 20 we hosted a Combating Seniors’ Social Isolation Summit

Seniors’ Social Isolation is a priority issue for Langley Seniors in Action and many other senior-serving organizations, now more than ever. We are interested in solutions for combating isolation of seniors in Langley. The Summit helped us identify key gaps in service.

The objectives of the Summit were to:

  • Develop a common understanding of what social isolation looks like in Langley
  • Develop 2-3 solid plans for combating the issue
  • Develop action plans and working groups to continue the work after the event

Here’s what happened:

  • We had a Keynote address from BC Seniors Advocate, Isobel Mackenzie
  • We had a panel discussion and Q&A with leaders from senior-serving organizations such as, Langley Meals on Wheels, Langley Lodge and United Way
  • We had small group-facilitated problem-solving session
  • We had a plan to move forward
